I’ve been trying a lot of energy drinks recently. I’m kind of an energy drink junkie. I guess caffeine junkie, but I tend to drift more towards energy drinks than coffee. Basically, if I walk into a store and I see one I haven’t tried, I’ll give it a shot. So far I’ve tried Red Bull, Rockstar, Full Throttle, Coolah, 24:7, NOS, BooKoo, Bawls, Monster, Amp, Enviga, MDX, and Vault. I don’t think I’m missing any, but if I am, I’ll be sure to make a correction.
So far my favorites are Rockstar, Full Throttle, and Red Bull. Coolah is interesting, kind of lemonade + caffeine. I liked BooKoo, but it’s hard to find in Massachusetts (I think it’s a Southern thing). Enviga intrigued me at first, but I quickly became repulsed by the taste. 24:7 is a nasty Red Bull knock off.
If I could get a sponsored by anyone, it’d be Rockstar. They could send me crates of the stuff and I’d be sure to wear a Rockstar t-shirt. I wanna know if I’m missing anyone though. Wikipedia has a pretty thorough list of energy drinks, so i know I’m missing some. Tell me what I need to try!
I actually knwo how you feel about never being able to sleep. I guess it makes no sense that I love caffeine, but I drink it during the day. I don’t know what to tell you. But rather than sleep, I’ve just adapted to finding things to do while I’m awake. Starting companies is a pretty good one…
I’ve tried my share of energy drinks, but I have found the best to be one that doesn’t have much more caffeine than a cup of coffee. It’s called 5-Hour Energy, it doesn’t taste very good but it’s only like 5oz of fluid. You drink it quickly and get a boost of energy. I would say it works like its name says, usually 5 hours of energy, though not a high and low like most sugared drinks.
I’m a complete addict when it comes to caffeine & energy drinks.
Started with good ole Jolt and never looked back :)
Fav’s atm would be:
Redbull
Relentless
Dynamite
RedRooster
Sprite 3G (tho its a bit weak)
Plus the odd couple of pro-plus and a couple of cups of coffee a day!
Told ya I was an addict :)
Tea, coffee, cola, energy drinks and chocolate share the same nerve toxin (stimulant), caffeine. Caffeine, which is readily released into the blood, triggers a powerful immune response that helps the body to counteract and eliminate this irritant. The toxic irritant stimulates the adrenal glands, and to some extent, the body’s many cells, to release the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol into the blood stream.
If consumption of stimulants continues on a regular basis, however, this natural defense response of the body becomes overused and ineffective. The almost constant secretion of stress hormones, which are highly toxic compounds in and of themselves, eventually alters the blood chemistry and causes damage to the immune system, endocrine, and nervous systems. Future defense responses are weakened, and the body becomes more prone to infections and other ailments.
The boost in energy experienced after drinking a cup of coffee is not a direct result of the caffeine it contains, but of the immune system’s attempt to get rid of it (caffeine) An overexcited and suppressed immune system fails to provide the “energizing” adrenaline and cortisol boost needed to free the body from the acidic nerve toxin, caffeine. At this stage, people say that they are “used” to a stimulant, such as coffee. So they tend to increase intake to feels the “benefits.”
Since the body cells have to sacrifice some of their own water for the removal of the nerve toxin caffeine, regular consumption of coffee, tea, or colas causes them to become dehydrated. For every cup of tea or coffee you drink, the body has to mobilize 2-3 cups of water just to remove the stimulants, a luxury it cannot afford. This applies to soft drinks, medicinal drugs, and any other stimulants, As a rule, all stimulants have a strong dehydrating effect on the bile, blood, and digestive juices.

I like Amp. But then again I also liked 24:7. Nonetheless you should try it just coz you haven’t yet, it’s like a better tasting mountain dew.
I like JOLT, it comes in different flavors and it tastes pretty good. It is similar to Bawls. But you get more of a rush.
