When I first watched what was possible with the iPod Touch, I started to wonder if I really needed to the whole phone part of the iPhone. Had I just not waited long enough for the right device? But after reading a few articles about what the iPod Touch is missing, I can let go a sigh of relief, and rest assured that the iPhone was the right choice.
The main issue right now for me between the iPod touch and the iPhone is the EDGE network. As slow as EDGE can be compared to other networks, just being able to make any kind of connection anywhere is really useful. I don’t always need to be surfing rich multimedia sites, but just being able to access email from anywhere, and iPhone optimized sites is a must. While I love WiFi, the truth is that it’s just not as abundant as you’d expect. Even in tech savvy locations like San Francisco. When you finally do find a signal, it’s password protected. With a steady connection anywhere you can get a cell phone signal, even if you’re not doing major browsing, you can be sure that you’re always in touch. I don’t think that can be said for the new iPod.
