Even though I only made the post a few hours ago, I’m really happy to see some of the responses to my attempt to start a discussion on the use of blog commenting systems. I thought Chris made a good point about making it easier to follow comment threads, so I’ve added in Comment RSS feeds to the bottom of the every post. If you scroll down to the comment form, you should see a familiar RSS icon labeled “Comments.” I’m using Textpattern, and I haven’t found a great way to do email notifications, but if or when I do, I’ll let everyone know.
I also noticed that comments weren’t appearing without clearing my cache, so I figured out the problem, and that should be fixed. If any other TXP users are having the same problem, trying going Admin> Preferences> Advanced and change Send “Last-Modified” header? to No.
Finally, I’ve added a list of the most recent comments to the sidebar. A little nod to anyone who’s joining in on the discussion. But anyway, I’m really glad to see comments are proving useful, and hopefully will be even more useful in the future with these additions.
I noticed a few suggestions for future posts in the comments, so I’m taking note, and will be writing those soon. If you want to know my thoughts on anything, I think you know how to ask.
After this post I made it possible to the subscribe to all comments too, which you can find on the sidebar, next to Recent Comments.
