Last spring there were a few albums that I would listen to over and over again. The top two on that list “Dog Problems” by the Format and “Putting The Days to Bed” by the Long Winters. Just for fun I thought I’d add up the number of plays “Putting The Days..” has accumulated in my iTunes library. Total play counts: 310. And I’m sure I’ll post about The Format later.
So yes, The Long Winters put out some catchy indie rock records. But even cooler than that, have you see the Merlin’s interview with their frontman, John Roderick? Well we all love it when we see a musician that “gets it” (i.e. Trent Reznor). Roderick definitely “gets it”. Go watch his 4 part interview. You might notice Roderick also wrote the theme song for The Merlin Show.
But anyway, let’s listen to a song. This one is called Blue Diamonds and is that theme song I just mentioned. And if you want to go a little further, go watch their video for Fire Island, AK
You do know I spent the Summer of 2006 on tour w/ The Format, right? Glad you like ‘em ;]
@Aaron really? I’d like to hear that story sometime. We’ll have to meet up when I’m in San Francisco this weekend.
I just got their album, Putting The Days To Bed. I like it a lot, especially Fire Island.
