I spent a while looking for moo card cases online the other day. If you’ve ever seen moo cards, they aren’t the size of a normal business card, so you can’t just pick one up at Staples. I did find some really slick looking cases, but they were all from other countries or shipped in bulk. I really don’t want to pay for international shipping and I don’t need 48 of them, so I figured it wouldn’t be too hard to make my own.
I started off by grabbing a packet of gum from the Starbucks. Just about the right size and pretty stylish. I poured out the gum and checked to see if the cards fit. Pretty perfect actually. I could just leave it at that, but I didn’t want the Starbucks logo on it.
I found some fine sand paper and started working away at the printing on the case. It started to come off pretty easily.
And after maybe 5 minutes of sanding, I had myself a nice shiny metal case.
Finally I took some pliers and bent in the metal fold over on the inside of the case. The moo cards would get kind of caught in there. Not necessary though.
And now I’ve got my very own moo card case. It holds about 25 cards.
Wow, that’s pretty crafty. I’m not sure if the Starbucks here has that gum though. Maybe…
good stuff man. I’ve been meaning to order some of these. About how long does it take to get them in?
Thats an awesome idea! Thanks for posting this! I’ll have to try this when my company gets some more business card printed out.
Crafty you are! (= Unfortunately, I live in the country without Starbucks.
Excellent idea
I dont recomment ordering any for about 2 weeks because of the post strike,
I’m considering Moo cards for the BlogHer conference. Quite cute. I just happen to have a ‘Bux gum tin at home already…thanks!
