I’ve seen some pretty elaborate post-it art before. I always find it really clever and think “I should do that myself!” Then I start on some other project and forget about it, or go looking for some post-its and find that I have none, or maybe just one stack…
Well I actually decided to go ahead and do it. It was for almost no reason other than boredom and feeling like I’d been lacking in creativity that day. I started with some design plans. I picked the iconic Space Invaders character, since pixel/8-bit artwork makes the project that much easier. I printed it, gridded it, and numbered it.
I followed my plans and spent about a half hour. At the end of that half hour and after explaining to a few friends passing by what I was doing, I ended up with this.
If I were to do it again, I’d probably use some kind of adhesive. They started to fall off after about a day. I thought of painting it into place, since I did use the negative space approach, but I didn’t get to it before most of the post-it’s fell down. I’m sure I’ll be at it again soon though.
I think you inspired me to take on my own to-do project. My apartment needs some color anyways, and this kind of art doesn’t mess up the walls!
