The Tumblr Portfolio

I’ve had this idea for a little while. I finally put it together today. I’ve seen people use tumblr for some interesting things besides tumblelogs for a little while now so I figured why not try it as a portfolio? Easy to update, completely free, and really flexible as far as layout goes.

You can view the demo I’ve put together. It’s actually going to be the portfolio of my friend Aaron. It uses lightbox to display full size images when the thumbnails are clicked on.

To install, all you need to do is copy and paste this text file into Custom HTML under Customize and Theme.

The colors are all customizable from the Colors panel. Try to stick to one aspect ratio and orientation when it comes to the pictures you upload for best results. Also try 15 posts per page. This theme will only support pictures. If you post text, video, links, etc. they just won’t appear.

So if you’ve checked out other online portfolio solutions like CarbonMade or DeviantArt and just weren’t pleased with them, give this a shot.
