So according to an article on CNN Massachusetts is asking myspace to use an age verification system to set the minimum age to 18. I know the people behind this idea have the best of intentions, but it just seems like more people in power who don’t really understand how technology works.
Let’s say Massachusetts does set the Myspace limit to 18 for those under Massachusetts state law. What if someone where to use an out of state zipcode. Should they have a location verification system as well? Will we need credit cards or social security numbers just to be able to create a profile?
I’m sure this idea won’t go anywhere, since i’m sure over half of myspace’s users are under 18, but it’s frusterating seeing more and more attacks on misunderstood technology.
